Description
King crabs, also known in some parts of the world as stone crabs, are a family of decapod crustaceans mainly found in cold seas and are the largest crabs on Earth. There are approximately 40 known species of king crabs. In Alaska, there are only three commercially harvested species; the red king crab, the blue king crab and the golden king crab with the Golden historically being the first season of the year to arrive.
Golden king crab are hunted from the Aleutian Islands to Japan and are the smaller of the commercially hunted King Crab species. The flesh is mild, slightly sweet and incredibly superior to brine or blast frozen imported King Crab Products usually available. If you've never tasted fresh from the ocean King Crab that has never been frozen then you truly have never tasted King Crab at its peak of flavor!
