Effingham Oysters are a Pacific Northwest oyster from one of the British Columbia oyster appellations by Vancouver Island, BC. They are farmed by the tray suspension and tumbling methods. Effingham Inlet Oysters are cultured in the pristine waters of Effingham Inlet, which is located in Barkley Sound on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
Effinghams are a tumbled oyster that is suspended from rafts in nutrient rich water. The monthly tumbling process creates a uniform deep cup and hard shell which gives consumers a Premium Quality oyster. During the spring and summer months these oysters are dropped to a depth of 60 feet, which is the same water temperature as the winter. This prevents the oysters from spawning and maintains meat quality for a premium year-round product.
